econnect Germany studies the concepts for sustainable mobility in local communities, e.g. intelligent networking of the energy system with the mobility systems by information and communication technology. Innovative traffic and energy concepts require novel medial tools to inform users about the product and sell it on the market. Within the project eConnect Germany electro mobility will be integrated in already existing traffic systems in the city of Osnabrück in order to raise the population’s awareness for renewable energies and get people interested in their short-range transit.

In seven locations in Germany a wide-ranging consortium of top-class partners develops new forms of integrating traffic and energy systems into electro mobility. One part of the project is testing information and communication technologies within research, development, and demonstration proposals based on existing electro mobile system carriers.

In 2012, the project has been selected by the Federal government as its (only) lighthouse project in the field of ICT for electro mobility.
