Sandra Kiefer, PhD, from the Department of Computer Science 7, receives the Ackermann Award 2021 for her dissertation "Power and Limits of the Weisfeiler-Leman Algorithm".

Sandra Kiefer defended her PhD thesis in March 2020 and is currently a research group leader at the Max-Planck-Institute for Software Systems.

The Weisfeiler-Leman algorithm is a technique used to classify graphs. The algorithm finds particular application in approaches to solving the graph isomorphism problem.

The Ackermann Award is given annually by the European Association for Computer Science Logic (EACSL for short) to outstanding dissertations in the field of "Logic in Computer Science". The goal of the EACSL is to promote computer science logic in research and education. For this purpose, basic research as well as application-oriented research is supported and important links to industrial applications are established.

We cordially congratulate on this success!
